What if some of the things you’ve believed about yourself are simply thoughts you’ve repeated for a very long time?
This week’s Selah Monday Morning Meditation explores Davar BaLev — the words within the heart and the inner conversations that quietly influence how we see ourselves, other people, and the possibilities before us.
Two people can witness the same event and walk away with very different memories and interpretations. Our experiences are filtered through attention, emotion, expectation, previous experiences, and memory. So sometimes what feels like a fact may actually be an interpretation we’ve carried for years.
In this guided meditation, we become quiet enough to listen to those inner conversations without judgment—and gently ask:
🌿 Do I know this, or have I been telling myself this?
🌿 Where did I learn this?
🌿 Does this thought support the life I want to live?
🌿 What else could be true?
🌿 Where do I choose to place my attention now?
This isn’t about pretending everything is positive or denying difficult experiences. It is about discernment.
You can notice a thought without giving it authority.
You can reconsider a belief that once protected you but now limits you.
And you can intentionally place your attention on what supports greater truth, wisdom, courage, peace, love, and life.
This Week’s Selah Practice
When you catch yourself repeating a familiar limiting thought:
Pause. Listen. Question. Redirect.
Ask yourself:
“Do I know this—or have I been telling myself this?”
Then make room for one of the most powerful questions we can ask:
“What else could be true?”
You don’t have to believe everything you think.
Pause. Breathe. Listen. Question. Choose Ha-Chayyim. Live.
Selah. 🌿
